Fine Art Photography – Painting

My interest in photography as my artistic expression, developed slowly over several years. But, from childhood, I always considered making art as my career goal.
Initially taking a degree in Interior Design I found that photographing the interiors seemed to interest me more than drafting plans or choosing paint colours. When I returned to university after starting my family, I chose a fine art degree and then became the first in Ontario to do an MFA in Photography. When I sold prints from my first roll of film to the National Film Board of Canada collection, my career path was launched and on graduation, I became the first woman to be hired to teach photography at, what is now, Toronto Metropolitan University.
Since that time, I have continued to work as a fine art photographer and have had many international exhibitions and sales.
Colors And Shapes Inspire Me…
I have taken my First Nation photographs one step further, creating abstract collage paintings that take different inspiration from information new to non-indigenous Canadians. I use artifact and regalia from different tribes across the country pictured together within a single image to represent not only individual tribes, but the modern unification of sentiment among different groups. I want to illustrate the problematic events that occurred across Canada in history, in an effort to shed light on issues.
All collage paintings are one of a kind (24 x 24 inches)
All the paintings and photographs are for sale.
